Gov. Andy Beshear has vetoed a bill that would ban Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs at public Kentucky colleges and universities.House Bill 4 would eliminate DEI offices and training programs, along with policies promoting any "differential treatment."Beshear signed the veto on Wednesday."I'll always believe that diversity is a strength and never a weakness," Beshear said in a video on X. "That we are better with more voices and more seats at our table."The sponsors of the bill say DEI programs are unconstitutional and wasteful.Beshear's veto could be overridden when the legislative session reconvenes next week.
