Former UofL Cardinals Shough, Gillotte picked in NFL draft
Former UofL quarterback Tyler Shough did not have to wait long to hear his name called as round two of the NFL Draft got underway Friday night in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
After 32 first round picks on Thursday night, Shough was pick No. 40 overall, by the New Orleans Saints.
He was watching the Draft with his family in Arizona.
"It was definitely memorable, for sure. I'm just so blessed to be here with all my friends and family and former teammates and coaches," Shough told ABC. "Just kind of been along this whole journey. And, I couldn't ask for a better day, better opportunity to be a part of the Saints."
The 25 year-old Shough is third highest pick for a former Cards quarterback. Only Teddy Bridgewater in 2014 and Lamar Jackson in 2018 were selected higher. They were both pick No. 32.
Shough's UofL teammate, defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte was the No. 66 overall selection.
He was picked in the third round by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rounds four through seven are Saturday in Green Bay.
