Emergency repairs to begin on Clark Memorial Bridge next week

The Clark Memorial Bridge will be closed on next Wednesday for crews to begin repairing it after a dangerous crash left the truck hanging off the bridge. Emergency repair plans for replacing the steel beams are in place and set to begin at 9 a.m.The bridge was damaged on March 1 when a semitrailer crashed through the railing and was left hanging over the side of the bridge.On Wednesday, crews will be setting up traffic control devices for the bridge repair. Officials say they expect crews to complete the setup by late afternoon.Two lanes of southbound traffic will be maintained throughout the repair project.Drivers traveling from Kentucky to Indiana should detour by using the Sherman Minton Bridge or Interstate 65 North, the Abraham Lincoln Bridge.
