Families attend JCPS' Showcase of Schools to learn about school choice options
Thousands of families attended JCPS' Showcase of Schools at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Parents met with staff at Jefferson County Public Schools to learn more about options for school choices next school year.
JCPS맥스카지노s School Choice Plan is changing the way parents make the decision of what schools their children will attend. School choice takes effect for the 2023-24 school year for incoming kindergarten, sixth-grade, and ninth-grade students. The plan will create several changes throughout the district.
맥스카지노Everyone has their resides school, and we have the new choice zone. For more than 40 years, kids in west Louisville did not have a choice to stay close to home. They were always having to go further away, so now with the choice zone every child in the choice zone area is guaranteed a choice close to home if that's what they want or they can go further away,맥스카지노 said Carolyn Callahan, JCPS chief of communications, 맥스카지노We have changed boundaries so everyone's boundaries possibly could have changed, so that's why we're asking people to put in their address and see what schools are in their area.맥스카지노
While some families were pleased with the options, others wanted more choices.
맥스카지노I'm just so happy and there's so many choices out here that I didn't know about,맥스카지노 said Kenyetta Harper.
맥스카지노Our selection isn't quite what we would desire, but we're looking more into the magnet programs. We're going to end up having to go that route,맥스카지노 said Chanda Hall.
The district says there are steps parents should take if they are interested in attending magnet or academy schools.
맥스카지노Just because you want to go to a certain magnet school doesn't mean you will get into that magnet school. There's an application process. Just because you put in for a transfer to a school does not mean you are guaranteed that transfer. It's an entire process,맥스카지노 Callahan said.
JCPS says parents can also call the school they맥스카지노re interested in attending. Many of them have open houses planned to meet staff and tour the school.
