Maps show how Indiana has voted for president in past 6 elections
Ahead of Election Day, we're taking a look at how Indiana has voted for presidents in the past.
Historically, Indiana votes for the Republican candidate in a presidential election, adding 11 electoral votes to the total of whoever claims the Hoosier State.
Former President Donald Trump overwhelmingly won their the last two elections.
But that doesn't mean Democrats haven't won in Indiana.
Over the last 12 presidential elections, there was one time a Democrat won Indiana, and that happened recently. Then-Sen. Barack Obama won Indiana by the slimmest of margins over Sen. John McCain in 2008. Obama won Indiana by 0.09% over McCain, getting 49.9% of the vote.
Since Obama's victory in 2008, Democrats haven't been able to claim victory in the state.
