How to help victims of mass shooting at Louisville bank
As Louisville grieves the loss of several people killed in a mass shooting, many are looking for ways to honor their memory.
Five people died on Monday when an employee opened fire in Old National Bank on Main Street. Several people were also injured, including an officer who was shot in the head.
Here are some ways that you can help honor those involved in the shooting.
Blood donations
Following the mass shooting, the Louisville community is being asked to donate blood in order to help victims.
During an update from Louisville leaders on Tuesday, Dr. Jason Smith with UofL Health said that his team had used 170 units of blood, which is far past their capacity.
People who want to donate are urged to find a Red Cross donation center, which can be If you are unable to donate blood, you are encouraged to make a donation to the Red Cross to help with efforts.

Fundraisers
Fundraisers are being set up for victims of the shooting, and have been done so for Josh Barrick, who was a father of two children. All of the money will be going toward funeral expenses and other financial needs for the families.

Louisville Metro Police Foundation has set up a fund for Officer Nick Wilt, who was shot in the head on Monday. The money will go toward his hospital and recovery expenses.
"Everyone has been asking how they can support Nick and his family during this journey. We have set up a fund here at the foundation to take care of expenses that will come up during his hospital stay and recovery," read a post from the foundation's Facebook.
