North Oldham High School graduate Justin Powell made his NCAA Tournament debut on Thursday.
Powell, a guard for the Tennessee Volunteers, played 4 minutes in the team's first-round win over Longwood.
"It was great," said Powell. "You grow up watching these games, stuff like that. And even in school, you watch the games and try to push off your work a little bit so you can watch the games. It's amazing. It's a dream come true. It really is."
The No. 3-seeded Volunteers have been on a roll recently. They have won eight straight games and captured the program's first SEC Tournament championship since 1979 earlier this month.
Powell said the team's chemistry is off the charts.
"Everybody loves each other," said Powell. "We're all unselfish guys, so we're all in the locker room and we're all trying to figure out how to make the next person better. So I think that's what's making us click right now."
The Volunteers' next game in Indianapolis is on Saturday against No. 11-seeded Michigan. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m. EST. The game can be seen on 비바카지노 Viva.
