For months they discuss what they want the show to be and that includes the size of the explosives, which Hettinger says will be bigger this year."The biggest fireworks we can use now are the 12-inch and most of the shells we're doing are anywhere... range from two-inch on up to 8-inch, a lot of 9-inch shells were used last year. So we really haven't had the 12 inch shells in quite some time," he said.This year, Hettinger says the Clark Memorial Bridge will play a key role in the display, and they will try to pull off something they've never done before."The one thing Zambelli is going to attempt to do, I'm hoping it's going to work... we're going to be doing a salute to the 80th anniversary to the end of WWII," Hettinger said. "They're going to build a combination of fireworks that is going to lift up off the bridge and build an American flag. I don't think it's ever been done before.
