Trinity advances to 2nd straight regional championship
The series between Trinity and Manual has been a little one-sided, with the Rocks winning eight straight over the Crimsons.
Trinity continued its dominance with a 60-55 win in the 7th region semifinals.
Manual held it's own for four quarters, but came up short in overtime. Trinity was nearly perfect in OT, shooting 3 for 3 from the field and made their free throws to move one step closer to their second straight regional title.
"It would've been easy for them to give up on each other and they never did," said head coach Bret Saxton. "They kept showing up, they kept coming to practice, and they kept battling."
Three different players (Julius Edmonds, Avery Frasher, and Josiah Lawson) scored 12 points for Trinity. Garrison Gilvin added 11 points, and Jayden Johnson had nine points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.
Trinity faces it's arch-rival St. X for the third time this season, this time with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line. The 7th region championship is Monday at 8 p.m. at Valley High School.
