Tuesday of Kentucky Derby week has a new theme: 502'sDay
Most of Kentucky Derby week is something.
There's the Derby, obviously, on Saturday. Oaks the day before, Friday. Thursday eventually became known as "Thurby."
And now, Tuesday will be known as "502'sDay." According to Churchill Downs, it "celebrates what makes Kentucky Derby Week special: the local community."
And with that comes tickets for just $5.
They say the day will be dedicated to the 502 with the "best of Louisville on full display." In other words, they're trying to create a day for locals.
And locals will tell you that's what Thurby was supposed to be, but it has significantly risen in popularity. So, Churchill Downs has created a whole new day geared toward bringing neighbors to the race track.
Tuesday used to be Champions Day, but that is being moved to Wednesday. And on this Champions Day, the track will celebrate the legendary Secretariat and the 50th anniversary of his memorable Triple Crown sweep.
Tickets for all of Derby Week go on sale at noon on Thursday.
