Wagner's Pharmacy heats up for Derby Week crowds
Early Tuesday morning, the griddle at is already hot and ready to go.
According to Sandra Vince, who runs the kitchen there, with what's about to happen, it needs to be.
"It's crazy," Vince said. "I mean, we are busy all through the year. It dies down a little bit during the winter, but Derby is a packed house 맥스카지노 nothing like it."
Wagner's, located just outside the infield gate of the iconic Churchill Downs, has been a fixture of Derby time for generations. According to Vince, the reputation of the more than 100-year-old diner has spread far and wide.
"Oh my god, yeah! We get them from England, Australia, we get them from everywhere. They were told to try it," Vince said.
If you ask Sandra, the must-try menu item at Wagner's is the Hot Brown, but she believes the true secret to success has little to do with the Mornay sauce.
"We are like one big family here," she said. "We are like one big family. When it gets busy, everyone is hands-on."
Wagner's Pharmacy first opened in 1922. A portion of the Disney film "Seabiscuit" was shot at the restaurant.
