28-year-old woman charged with murder in deadly Highlands shooting
A woman is charged with murder and assault after a deadly shooting in the Highlands two weekends ago.
Louisville Metro Police Department responded to the intersection where Baxter Avenue and Bardstown Road meet around 3:30 a.m. on April 20.
Officers arrived and found 35-year-old Bryant Johnson shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police believe that Johnson was actually shot in the 100 block of Bardstown Road and was able to drive away before crashing. The person in the other vehicle he crashed into was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Monday, police arrested 28-year-old Lanesha Blakey. She is charged with murder and assault.
"Our detectives always put in an extraordinary amount of effort to get those who perpetrate these violent acts off our streets." said LMPD Lt. Les Skaggs. "Investigators will now further the work of preparing for prosecution and bringing justice to the victims and their loved ones."
Blakey is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
