JCPS superintendent hopes to have kids back in class by middle of next week
Jefferson County Public Schools' superintendent gave an update Friday, saying more classes will likely be canceled as they sort out bus issues.
Dr. Marty Pollio said he hopes to have students back in school by the middle of the week, but no guarantees.
He said a final decision will be made by the end of the day on Saturday, and they맥스카지노ll let parents know after that.
Students had 맥스카지노snow days맥스카지노 on Thursday and Friday after what맥스카지노s been called a busing disaster on the first day of school.
There were numerous delays and issues, with drivers get lost and some students getting home close to 10 p.m.
Pollio said they won맥스카지노t be considering NTI for any days off related to bus issues. He said they only get 10 and they want to use those for snow days. He맥스카지노ll ask the school board to forgive the days so they don맥스카지노t have to make them up at the end of the year.
As for what went wrong that day, Pollio said he맥스카지노s not blaming the AI technology that helped create the routes: AlphaRoute. Instead, he blames the implementation.
He didn맥스카지노t meet with drivers about the fiasco until Friday but said he intends to start meeting with them once a month.
Pollio also encouraged students to be sure of where their bus stop is.
One question on many minds is what role, if any, GPS plays into this mess. JCPS bus drivers don't have GPS systems.
He said federal regulations limit bus driver use of GPS units, but also says they have met with UPS officials to discuss how they use it, and how JCPS could do the same.
