My Morning Jacket to get their own Hometown Heroes banner this week
Surprise: Another Louisville "hero" (well, heroes) has been added to the Hometown Heroes banner class for 2025.
This week, longtime Louisville rockers My Morning Jacket will be honored with one of the classic displays seen throughout the city that recognize the area's most famous.
They'll join the likes of Muhammad Ali, Diane Sawyer, Jennifer Lawrence, Jack Harlow and many more who are plastered about the city.
The MMJ banner will be unveiled at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kentucky Expo Center's armory building.
The band wasn't on the list of this year's class that was released in January, but the guys are doing a big hometown run starting Friday, so the timing is right.
MMJ is playing at the Louisville Palace Friday-Sunday and then again the following Tuesday and Wednesday.

Each night, they'll have a local act opening, like Bendigo Fletcher and Future Killer. And, to fans' delight, they will have no repeats of songs over the five-show run.
In addition to the Hometown Heroes honor, the band also recently received the keys to the city at a Louisville City FC game. | Read more here.
The day before that, they released their new album "is."
