Nearly three months after an officer was shot during a traffic stop in the Chickasaw neighborhood, someone has been indicted for attempted murder. On Sept. 7, Officer Brandon Haley was following a suspicious car on 40th Street. As he was stopping the car, he got out and shots rang out from a nearby home, LMPD said. That's when Haley was hit multiple times. He was hospitalized and was discharged weeks later. After the shooting, there was an hours-long standoff. Five men were arrested, but none directly for that shooting. Read about the arrests here.On Thursday, LMPD announced that one of those men is now being indicted for attempted murder of a police officer: Dominique Thompson, 28.More to watch: LMPD releases releases police video of barrage of gunfire in Chickasaw that injured officerHe's also facing a long list of other charges: assault first degree on a police officer, wanton endangerment, trafficking in controlled substance (Methamphetamine), trafficking in controlled substance (Heroin), three counts of possession of handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, tampering with physical evidence, and resisting arrest.A grand jury also indicted two of the others, but not for the shooting:Jaquan Ransom, 29, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting arrest.Jemond Groves, 21, for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and criminal trespass third degree.Dramatic body camera video from the shooting shows Haley will himself across the street, looking for cover while calling for help.
