150 days until Kentucky Derby 150: How the city is celebrating
Wednesday marks exactly 150 days until Kentucky Derby 150, and Churchill Downs is marking the occasion with several events.
Free Kentucky Derby Museum admission
The Kentucky Derby Museum is offering free admission Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for an event called Race to 150, a community event designed to immerse visitors in the culture and traditions of the Derby.
The museum will also be gathering memorabilia for a Derby 150 Time Capsule, so bring some, and it is giving the first 150 guests a commemorative Race to 150 gift.
Repairing homes for free
New Directions Repair Affair is partnering with Churchill Downs to repair homes at three different locations in Louisville.
Volunteers will fan out to two homes close to Churchill Downs on Iowa Avenue and one on South Sixth Street to complete a variety of repair projects.
The organization helps low-income older and disabled homeowners throughout the year with free basic home repairs.
Grand opening of Kentucky Derby Gaming Downtown
A new gaming and betting facility opened Wednesday in the heart of downtown Louisville timed with the occasion.
Derby City Gaming Downtown opened its doors to the public in style, with official Churchill Downs bugler Steve Buttleman on hand to play the race call.

New commemorative glasses
Churchill Downs unveiled the new official mint julep glass for Kentucky Derby 150 and the lily glass for Kentucky Oaks 150.
This year맥스카지노s design for the collectible keepsake is adorned with the classic Kentucky Derby red roses and lists every official Kentucky Derby winner, from Aristides in 1875 to Mage in 2023.
Also in 2024, there will be an exclusive Glass and Oaks Lily Glass available only on-site at Oaks and Derby. The exclusive glasses will feature a frosted casing with a gold trophy and gold lilies, respectively.

Contest to win Kentucky Derby tickets
Along with the reveal of the new glasses, Churchill Downs announced a contest to win two free tickets to the 150th Kentucky Derby.
