25-year-old man identified as gunman in Louisville mass shooting
Police have identified the man who opened fire Monday morning at a bank in downtown Louisville as 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon.
Police said Sturgeon was an employee of Old National Bank at the time of the shooting.
Investigators said Sturgeon was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police. He was killed by Officer Cory Galloway, who had also been shot.
Police in Louisville arrived as gunshots were still being fired inside Old National Bank and exchanged fire with Sturgeon.
Investigators said Sturgeon was armed with an AR-15 rifle that he bought on April 6 from a Louisville dealership.
Police said Sturgeon's motivation is still under investigation, but they did call it a "targeted attack."
Sen. Morgan McGarvey said he left a note, and texted someone prior to the shooting indicating he was suicidal.
Louisville Metro Police Interim Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said Sturgeon livestreamed some of the shooting on social media.
According to Sturgeon맥스카지노s LinkedIn page, he was a summer intern at Old National Bank for three summers in a row and became a full-time employee of the bank in 2021. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a finance degree in 2020.
A SWAT team was spotted entering Sturgeon맥스카지노s home on Taylor Avenue in the Camp Taylor neighborhood, not far from the airport, on Monday afternoon.

The shooter's family released a statement on Tuesday:
"While Connor, like many of his contemporaries, had mental health challenges which we, as a family, were actively addressing, there were never any warning signs or indications he was capable of this shocking act. While we have many unanswered questions, we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement officials and do all we can to aid everyone in understanding why and how this happened.
"No words can express our sorrow, anguish, and horror at the unthinkable harm our son Connor inflicted on innocent people, their families, and the entire Louisville community," read the statement. "We mourn their loss and that of our son, Connor. We pray for everyone traumatized by his senseless acts of violence and are deeply grateful for the bravery and heroism of the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department."
We're told Sturgeon's family is part of a tight-knit community in Floyd County. His father is a well-known teacher and former coach at Floyd Central.
At least three police officers were hurt during the gunfire exchange, according to police. One officer, Nickolas Wilt, was shot in the head and was rushed into surgery. The officer is in critical condition.
At least five more victims were confirmed to be dead inside the location, police said. Eight others were taken for treatment at a hospital.
