The family of the suspected gunman in the downtown Louisville mass shooting says that their son had "mental health challenges," but there wasn't any indication that he would do something like this.Connor Sturgeon, 25, is accused of killing five people and injured multiple others at the Old National Bank in downtown Louisville Monday morning.A statement from his family read in part:"While Connor, like many of his contemporaries, had mental health challenges which we, as a family, were actively addressing, there were never any warning signs or indications he was capable of this shocking act. While we have many unanswered questions, we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement officials and do all we can to aid everyone in understanding why and how this happened."The alleged shooter was an employee of the bank, according to police. His LinkedIn page indicated that he was an intern there for three summers before he became a full-time employee in 2021.His family also commended the actions of LMPD during the situation."No words can express our sorrow, anguish, and horror at the unthinkable harm our son Connor inflicted on innocent people, their families, and the entire Louisville community," read the statement. "We mourn their loss and that of our son, Connor.
